  • Christian Bassogog and Nicolas Nkoulou made the final squad

Shortly over an hour after the end of his side's 1-1 draw against Jamaica in an international friendly, Cameroon head coach Rigobert Song announced the final 26 names of the players that will represent the African nation at Qatar 2022.

Several mainstays of the squad will be present in Qatar, including goalkeeper Andre Onana, Vincent Aboubakar, Karl Toko Ekambi, Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.

One surprise inclusion was Christian Bassogog. A revelation at the 2017 CAF African Cup of Nations, the native of Douala currently plies his trade in the Chinese Super League with Shanghai Shenhua.

Another somewhat unexpected name to make the list was Nicolas Nkoulou. After the centre-back's performances in Cameroon's last two friendly outings against Korea Republic and Uzbekistan, the former Marseille man earned his spot on the plane to Qatar.

Notably, Souaibou Marou (Coton Sport) and Jerome Mbekeli (Colombe Sportive) are the two players that will be representing the country's domestic league.

The Indomitable Lions will fly to Abu Dhabi this Thursday 10 November to begin their preparation for the World Cup.
