In an interview with the local press last March, "Gerson" reflected on the passing of his teammate Guidi Ignace as he sobbed:

"I heard the sad news from his brother on Saturday afternoon, around 3:00 p.m. I must admit that I was shocked because apparently, Ignace wasn't ill. I saw him from afar two days ago in the neighbourhood. We didn't speak that day. As you know, he and I live in the same area in Marcory. So we were constantly together. It's a loss that I will find hard to forget anytime soon. I'm overwhelmed".

Little did we know that Beugré Inago "Gerson", one of the most skilful midfielders, " Les éléphants" have ever known would be dead four months after his best friend and international team-mate.

"Gerson" who also played alongside the great Laurent Pokou, started his stellar career with "Stella Club d'Adjamé" before transferring to Grenoble in France, then CS CNOU and OCA in Abidjan.

His biological brothers Moshé Inago and Beugré Yago were familiar fixtures in top-level Ivory Coast Football.

With Beugré Inago's passing, the Nation loses one of its former football gems who's jersey should have been hanging in the rafters of our footbal hall of fame, for flying high our flag around the world.

It is a stark reminder that the next Football Federation president should look into how our stars from the past, can be retrained into life in and around the football business or enjoy retirement with minimal constraints.

Ivory Coast Tribune extends its condolences to his biological family and Ivory Coast Football.
