Ivory Coast (10/02/2023) - Seven kilometers from Sassandra in the village of Bassa Drewin, traces of the Niger trade between Africa, Europe and America are visible.

Behind the Governor's Palace, in the form of an atrium, was the slave market where slave traders auctioned their stuff. Their "merchandise" destined for European traders.

Once sold, the slaves were locked and chained in a basement to await their never-return departure to America. Tunnels were built to channel them discreetly to the Nigerian ships.

Along Drewin Beach, one of those caves at the end of which is a cement slab clogging up a "tunnel of shame" is still standing.
